The Basilica–Cathedral of St. John the Baptist stands as a living testament to a community working together through hardship and adversity to establish a spiritual home for Roman Catholics here in Newfoundland.

At the Basilica Foundation we have had a busy year in preparation for the major restoration work that lies ahead.  This includes the completion of a strategic plan that will allow us to move forward with our goals and objectives.

SOME OF THE PRIORITIES ARE:
- Replacing the Basilica's front doors (a priority for the parish)
- Continue with the restoration the large stained glass windows
- Reinstalling the tower bells

In the spirit of Bishop Fleming and the determination he demonstrated in the building of the Basilica, we move forward.  His commitment is an inspiration to us all.

The total financial need to complete the required restoration work on the Basilica has been estimated in the range of $4 million. Please consider making a meaningful gift to this effort. The work we do today will allow for enjoyment in our lifetime but also by the many that follow.  It is our legacy to those that come after us.
